MedTech For Solutions is a unique company made up of individuals with extensive, broad-based experience in the healthcare field with a particularly comprehensive knowledge of the assisted reproductive technology (ART) industry. The collaborative approach of our team is designed to provide practices of all sizes with customized solutions for their full range of needs.

Executive Team

Dwight P. Ryan – President and CEO, is a seasoned CEO and CFO possessing extensive finance, accounting, and operations experience in healthcare and technology with early stage start-ups as well as Fortune 500 companies. He was formerly the CFO of the publicly-traded infertility services company, IntegraMed America. He developed a revolutionary infertility case management company to streamline patient care and contain medical and pharmacy costs for leading healthcare insurance companies. He has spent the majority of his career in the area of infertility. He was previously the Chief Operating Officer of Reproductive Medicine Associates of New Jersey and currently is Chief Operating Officer of Reproductive Medicine Associates of New York, one of the leading ART facilities in the country. Mr. Ryan for eight years served as board member on the national board of RESOLVE and for four years served as its treasurer and member of the executive committee.

Nancy Ledy-Gurren – Chairperson and General Counsel, has extensive experience in risk management services, providing both pre-litigation programs and litigation supervision (as national or regional counsel) to senior living organizations, non-profit residential communities and infertility programs. She developed a risk management program and functions as national supervising counsel for Senior Living Communities nationwide and directs MedTech’s Senior Living Risk Management Division. On the infertility side, Ms. Ledy-Gurren has considerable experience in all of the legal aspects (tort and contractual) of infertility practices. She second-chaired the first “test tube baby” case in the Federal District Court (1978), and has defended numerous cases involving ART issues, including two class actions alleging consumer fraud in the use of success statistics. Ms. Ledy-Gurren is the founding partner of Ledy-Gurren Bass & Siff, LLP, a law firm in New York City.

Dr. Kathleen Miller – Vice President of Laboratory Services, leads the team specializing in assisted reproduction technologies. The author of more than 100 abstracts and papers on fertility and assisted reproduction technologies, Dr. Miller is well known for research advances in the field of blastocyst culture, and pre-implantation genetics as well as a leading expert in laboratory management, quality improvement programs, and single embryo transfer.

Her state-of-the-art designed laboratories at Billings Clinic, University of Alabama, Advanced Reproductive Medicine and Gynecology’s Fertility Institute of Hawaii, Aurora Reproductive Care in Saskatoon, Coastal Fertility Center in Charleston, SC, UNC Fertility Center in Chapel Hill, NC, SpringCreek Fertility in Dayton, Ohio and Family Fertility Center at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston continue to deliver exceptional pregnancy rates and cutting edge technologies.

Dr. Miller is actively involved in research projects relating to many areas of assisted reproduction. As Scientific and research director at IVF Florida, she is actively involved in research projects at the University of Miami, Florida International University and Florida Atlantic University. At IVF Florida, she continues to work on time-lapse technology to select embryos that have the best chance of developing into a successful pregnancy and birth.

Richard M. Grant – Vice President of Marketing and Client Relationships. Mr. Grant joined MedTech after a 33 year career in the insurance industry, specializing in the development of new product lines and marketing. Richard has the responsibility for developing new markets for MedTech and for insuring that MedTech responds to client interests for personalized programs.

Michael J. Faulkner, Ph.D. is Vice President, Practice Development. Michael’s focus is on fertility practice start-up and relocation services, practice operations support and development, strategic partnerships, and new business development. Mr. Faulkner has served as a health care business development executive for over 20 years, including fertility practice and laboratory development, physician practice management, ambulatory surgical facilities, and hospital strategic planning. Most recently he served as Vice President for Fertility Services for a women’s health care management company. He has also served as Vice President, Development for CareSelect Group, a cardiovascular physician practice management company with 94 physicians in four states; Vice President for Strategic Business Development for Physician Reliance Network, an oncology practice management company which has since merged with U.S. Oncology; and Chief Development Officer for Paragon Ambulatory Surgery, a private company which developed and operated ambulatory surgical facilities in three states and has since merged with a predecessor company of HCA Healthcare. Mr. Faulkner received his B.S. degree in business administration from Cal-State University in Northridge, California, and also holds an M.H.A. from U.C.L.A. and Ph.D. in health care administration from the University of Minnesota.

 Barbara Sciarrillo, R.N. – Director of Risk Management, supervises MedTech’s Senior Living Risk Management Division with emphasis on the clinical evaluation and development of corrective initiatives, and the development of clinical defenses. She has extensive experience in containing and limiting risk in ART practices. She has also developed consent revision programs for numerous ART practices and is a member of ASRM.

Clinical Services

Jaclyn Piasta, RN, MSN, RNFA, WHNP-BC- Manager of Clinical Services, supervises MedTech’s clinical department with emphasis on clinical staff orientation and training, recruitment, protocol and policy development, and practice organization and structure. A graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, Jackie holds a Master of Science degree in Nursing and is board-certified as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She has extensive experience in the women’s health field including reproductive endocrinology and is a member of ASRM.

Concierge Services and Operations

Janelle Vahdat — Concierge Services and Operations Manager has 24 years of experience in healthcare, first with a major medical supply distributor for 12 years then with the nation’s pre-eminent group purchasing provider, most recently as their Strategic Account Client Executive. Janelle’s combined experience qualifies her to understand and provide excellent support for our Group Purchasing Organization Members. Her complete knowledge and understanding of GPO contracts uniquely qualifies her to assist new and existing members to ensure they utilize the GPO to its full advantage to maximize savings. She will work closely with distributors and vendors to assure members are linked to appropriate GPO pricing. She is also available to guide new applicants through the enrollment process and assist existing members to realize the full potential of the GPO and will act as your liaison with contracted vendors working towards problem resolution. Additionally, Janelle will provide support to MedTech clients needing our Laboratory Per Diem, Practice Development and Recruitment services.

IT and QA Services

Heidi Bayerlein, B.A., IT and QA Administration earned her BA in Biology and Chemistry from Carthage College in Southeastern Wisconsin. Heidi has five years of laboratory fertility laboratory experience, including Microbiology and Andrology. Her skills include semen analysis, Kruger’s Strict morphology, sperm viability, retrograde ejaculate urine analysis, semen preparation for IUI and IVF and cryopreservation. Heidi also has experience implementing new EMR systems, integrating new databases functionality and assisting practices with SART reporting.

Strategic HR and Talent Management Solutions

Rita Gruber has more than thirty-five years experience on a senior executive level both in retail and healthcare management. Her credentials in RE administration are supported by twenty-three successful years in HR and operations administration as IntegraMed’s first Director of Human Resources, followed by VP of Human Resources at RMA of New Jersey, and currently President of the Gruber Group, LLC doing consulting work with the MedTech For Solutions Team for RE practices and clinics across the country.

Rita received her BA from the College of New Rochelle, New Rochelle, NY and her Paralegal degree from Mercy College, White Plains, NY.

As a senior executive in NY retailing she acquired strong operations and process improvement competencies that complement and bring increased value to her HR administration skills.

During her career in RE, Rita has hired and onboarded executives and staff in all the RE disciplines; chaired PG Courses and Symposia for ARM at several ASRM conferences and other professional meetings; coached and mentored Physicians, Managers, and staff in leadership and performance competencies; served at the Rutgers University Career Development Center, volunteering her expertise to help graduating students prepare for job interviews, and was a client advisor to Total Compliance Solutions (TCS/MedSafe).
